Renovating Our 1960's Kentucky Farm

Hello my friends, I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Here writing this blog post, I remember I used to go online and look for houses for sale in Kentucky. My husband and I have always dreamed of living in Kentucky. I love farms, from the land to lifestyle. When I was a child, living in Colombia, my parents used to take us to my grandparent’s farm during school vacations, and I have the most beautiful memories there. Maybe it is a coincidence, the same thing happened to my husband. When he was a child living in Indiana, my in-laws would take him to Kentucky to his grandparent’s farm for school vacations. Finally, after some many years, God blessed us. My husband and I bought this lovely 1960’s farm in Kentucky. When we closed on the property, I cried with happiness. I am very grateful to God for this blessing. Our property is 26.16 acres. It has ample wood line, two springs of water, one beautiful red barn, a dated white one, and a very cute and small house, that was used as a dog house, and then as a cat house. .

We bought the property through an auction. The house was completely emptied, so we bought beds, a refrigerator, a dryer, a kitchen table, six beautiful lamps, and more items through an online auction. That was a first for me, and so much fun to experience online bidding for household items. I am excited to transform this house into a home!

Interior Design Plans

I am very excited to transform this house into a home. There is quite a bit of work that needs to be done! I want to maintain that nostalgic feeling of the old farmhouse. We are going to rip out all the carpets and replace them with wood floors. The first floor of the house has the living room, kitchen, bathroom, a master bedroom for my husband and I, and two additional bedrooms. One for my son Manny, the other will be used as a multipurpose space, Manny’s play room and guest room. The second floor has two rooms. To be my husband office and my office that has a powder room. The home has two car garage. My favorite part of the house is the kitchen. We plan to update the counters and floors, the cabinets will stay as they are.

The last time we went there to visit the farm, my son Manny told me that if we didn’t have a Christmas tree and a Nativity Scene there, his Elf and pet Elf would fly back to Santa. So in the meantime, I decorated a small Christmas tree and a Nativity Scene.
