Kentucky Farmhouse: Living Room

Hello my friends, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and New Year! I am grateful and excited for what is in store for my family in 2023. As you might have read in my last blog post Renovating Our 1960's Kentucky Farm, I shared with everyone how my husband and I have always dreamed of living in Kentucky and recently purchased a farm there! We are starting out the planning process to fix up the small farmhouse! Here is what is in store for the living room!

BEFORE PHOTOS

There is quite a bit of work that needs to be done! But I am very excited to transform this house into a home. I want to maintain that nostalgic feeling of the old farmhouse.

The living room is located on the first floor of the house, it is also the main point on entrance for our home. To make the space more functional for everyday life on the farm, we have plans to remove the carpet and will add wood flooring. We will remove the window that you can see on the before pictures, and the door will be replaced.

Design PLANS

While we are still in the early stages of planning and designing. I have been pouring my heart and soul into designing this home. Living on a farm has always been a dream of mine and my husband, and I am so excited to get started on design plans and to one day be able to live in Kentucky with my family.

A TRADITIONAL-Style Cottage

My husband and I have always loved traditional-style houses. This design style holds a special place in both of our hearts. Bringing beautiful memories to both me and my husband. Growing up during his school vacations my husband used to go to visit his grandparents’ farm in Kentucky. When I was a little girl, during my school breaks, I stayed on my grandparent farm in Colombia.

DESIGNING BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES

The beautiful memories I have from my grandparents’ farm bring me to tears. I cherish every moment I had with my grandparents on their farm, every beautiful memory. I want to create beautiful memories like those with my husband, son and dog, in our new Kentucky home.

The living room design is inspired by all of the old customs and treasured memories from my husband's childhood in Kentucky and my childhood in Colombia. We want to uphold our families’ traditions and values, while also giving our son a place to create his own treasured memories!

I hope you enjoy the living room render design I have created as inspiration as we curate furniture, decor, and color palettes!
